On Thursday, February 18, 2021, TDF hosted its second annual State of the Arts Panel. This year's edition explored technology and the performing arts and featured artists involved in the live online play This Is Who I Am, co-presented by the NYC-based PlayCo and Washington, DC's Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company. TDF’s Executive Director, Victoria Bailey, moderated the discussion on Zoom.

The event also featured Alan Brown, principal of WolfBrown and a leading researcher and management consultant in the arts sector. Over the past eight months, TDF has been working with Brown and his team to gauge audience interest in digital content as well as returning to in-person performances when theatres reopen. Individuals surveyed include TDF members along with patrons from 22 different international and US organizations.

The evening was a unique opportunity for TDF Champions to learn about what goes on behind the screens to bring virtual performances to life, and the role online theatre is expected to play post-pandemic. The event was generously sponsored by Southwest Airlines.
