ICYMI London's annual Olivier Awards, aka the British Tonys, took place last Sunday. The ceremony at Royal Albert Hall featured lots of live performances, including the opening number of the West End incarnation of Hamilton and a tribute to Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. But two-time Tony winner Chita Rivera belting out "Somewhere" from West Side Story during the In Memoriam segment is the clip everyone is talking about. In part it's because the late director Sir Peter Hall was accidentally omitted from the tribute -- a big oops that inspired the event organizer to rename the Olivier Award for Best Director the Sir Peter Hall Award for Best Director moving forward. But it's also thrilling to see the 85-year-old Rivera up there belting out the iconic song alongside Groundhog Day's Andy Karl and British stage star Adam J. Bernard. She originated the role of Anita in West Side Story on Broadway in 1957, and though she didn't even get a Tony nomination (seriously -- she had to wait until Bye Bye Birdie!) she'll always be associated with the groundbreaking musical. Check out our favorite clips below.
