Chekhov’s masterpiece comes to St. Ann’s Warehouse after a critically-acclaimed run at London’s Donmar Warehouse, directed by Benedict Andrews (A Streetcar Named Desire at St. Ann’s in 2016). Anchored by Nina Hoss (Homeland, Returning to Reims at St. Ann’s) and BAFTA nominee Adeel Akhtar, the international cast arrives on stage at once and remains visible on a perpetually lit stage. Class is neutralized and the experience of loss is universalized with the actors free to improvise and inhabit the sacred home that will soon be gone.
