Mother of All Choices takes an uncompromising look at the traditional view of mothering and the internal and external forces that shape one of the most polarizing and important decisions in a woman’s life—whether to give birth. How do our choices limit us and how do they set us free? Do we even have a choice? The right to choose and a woman’s ownership of her own body is the ultimate political battleground. Mother of All Choices cuts through archetypal roles and preconceived notions of motherhood to provoke an inclusive conversation about what it means to be maternal, what it means to be a mother and how our choice to give birth or not is impeded or influenced by societal expectations, politics and laws. The stories of the play are seen through the lens of four women with distinct perspectives: mothers and non-mothers, encompassing different cultures, ages, ethnicities and sexual orientations.
