The Joyce Theater Foundation is proud to present Miami City Ballet, one of the largest and most esteemed ballet companies in the United States.

For this spectacular engagement, its first on the Koch Theater stage, the company performs two programs that include New York premieres of commissioned contemporary works by some of today’s most heralded choreographers: Justin Peck, Alexei Ratmansky, and Liam Scarlett. Also on tap —Twyla Tharp’s Sweet Fields and classic pieces created by legendary choreographer George Balanchine.

The special opening night gala performance is a magnificent one, featuring Balanchine’s Serenade and Ratmansky’s Symphonic Dances
. One of the last dancers of her generation to work with Balanchine, former New York City Ballet principal Lourdes Lopez assumed the role of Miami City Ballet’s artistic director in 2012.
