Faran Tahir and Dariush Kashani on starring in the powerful new Broadway play
It's fitting that Faran Tahir and Dariush Kashani portray longtime best friends on stage in The Kite Runner—they're BFFs offstage, too! After years of running into each other at Hollywood auditions, the two became close, and they're thrilled to be collaborating for the first time in Matthew Spangler's moving stage adaptation of Khaled Hosseini's best-selling novel about an Afghan immigrant named Amir (Amir Arison) trying to make amends for past transgressions. Tahir plays Amir's domineering father Baba, who wants to turn his son into someone he's not. Kashani portrays Baba's best friend Rahim, who serves as a supportive father figure to Amir and ultimately offers him a shot at redemption. TDF brought these veteran character actors together to chat about performing such an emotional story, how their own fathers reacted to their artistic aspirations and the way their respective immigration journeys shaped their worldview. If you weren't able to tune in live you can watch a recording below. Captions are available.
