The longtime collaborators talk about their friendship and multiple musicals
What's the secret to Michael John LaChiusa and Graciela Daniele's enduring artistic relationship? According to them, it's laughter. That makes sense since the composer-lyricist-librettist and choreographer-director spend a lot of time giggling whenever they reminisce about the many musicals they've made on Broadway and beyond, including Chronicle of a Death Foretold, Marie Christine, Hello Again and The Gardens of Anuncia, which just premiered at San Diego's Old Globe. The love between the two is palpable as is their shared passion for theatre and arts education. TDF brought these dear friends together for a thoughtful and laugh-filled conversation about their relationship, their favorite projects and a few uproarious backstage stories. If you weren't able to tune in live, you can watch a recording below. Captions are available.
