For weeks we've been flipping our fins in anticipation of ABC's The Little Mermaid Live!, especially since this live TV musical was clearly a departure from its predecessors. Now that's it's aired, we've seen firsthand how different this hybrid of animated movie/live-action performance was. From the moment Jodi Benson, the original voice of Ariel, introduced the special, we were hooked. Our jaws dropped at the gorgeous aerial shots of Ariel as star Auli'i Cravalho belted out "Part of Your World" (despite its pitchy moments). And the transitions between animation and live action were fittingly fluid -- we loved that Ursula was spying on the live-action Ariel in her crystal ball. Queen Latifah was a fabulous Ursula, Shaggy as Sebastian brought down the house with "Under the Sea" and John Stamos was on fire as Chef Louis. Check out some of our favorite clips below:
