Adrianna Mitchell and Calvin Leon Smith on making their Broadway debuts in James Ijames' award-winning riff on Hamlet
---
For Adrianna Mitchell and Calvin Leon Smith, Fat Ham is the gift that keeps on giving. Last spring, just a few days before they originated the roles of siblings Larry and Opal in James Ijames' radical reinvention of Hamlet at The Public Theater, the play won the Pulitzer Prize. Now they're making their Broadway debuts in the buzzy transfer of the show, which transforms an age-old tragedy into a delectable modern-day comedy about love, loss, embracing one's authentic self and choosing pleasure over harm. We brought these costars together to talk about their characters' identity crises, memorable audience responses and whether they think Shakespeare is still relevant. If you weren't able to tune in live you can watch a recording below. Captions are available.
