Even though in-person theatre and dance are back in full swing, in the name of accessibility we're continuing to round up performances to watch online from the comfort of home. Our curated list spotlights the five best options to stream this weekend, Friday, October 18 to Sunday, October 20, for free or at low cost.

The Brick: Lucky Breaks

Live-streaming on Sunday, October 20 at 5 p.m. for $27 and up.

Ukrainian writer Yevgenia Belorusets penned a series of evocative vignettes that capture the surreality of life in her homeland since the Russian invasion. Lucille Lortel Theatre: FEAST!

Streaming for FREE until Thursday, October 31.

As part of its commitment to emerging playwrights, the Lucille Lortel Theatre is presenting a series of FREE public readings, including a few online. This week, enjoy Calamity West's raucous satire FEAST!, which explores the ever-more-blurry line between extremists on the left and the right. Elly Green directs a cast that includes Charles Busch regular Jennifer Van Dyck and Lost's Michael Emerson.

Netflix: Death, Let Me Do My Special Starring Rachel Bloom

Streaming for free to Netflix subscribers.

Following successful runs in London, Boston, Chicago and other cities, Rachel Bloom's almost solo musical Death, Let Me Do My Show comes to Netflix under a slightly tweaked title. An Emmy winner for her dark musical comedy series Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and beloved for her irreverent original songs on YouTube, Bloom explores the challenges she faced when the pandemic upended our lives in this very personal and outrageously funny work. Not only did COVID derail all her projects at a time when she was grappling with being a new mother, it also took the lives of multiple friends, including her longtime collaborator, songwriter and producer Adam Schlesinger. Bloom has made a career out of finding the fun in dysfunction and this musical meditation on mortality is morbidly amusing.

National Theatre at Home: London Tide

Streaming for $10.

In 2020, London's lauded National Theatre launched its own streaming service featuring professional stage captures of its productions. While you can buy a subscription, shows are also available to rent individually. New to the roster is London Tide, an epic stage reimagining of Charles Dickens' final novel, Our Mutual Friend, adapted by Ben Power and featuring moody songs by PJ Harvey. A 19th-century thriller, the story revolves around a poor young woman betrothed to a wealthy man who's missing and may be dead. A 72-hour rental costs $10 and captions are available. It's just one of many fantastic National Theatre shows you can stream, so be sure to browse the entire list.
