Our curated list spotlights the five best options to stream this weekend, Friday, November 1 to Sunday, November 3, for free or at low cost. Live From 54 Below: Sam Harris: Beyond the Rainbow

The From-Home Fest

During the pandemic, intrepid artists expanded the definition of theatre with innovative online performances. This digital festival celebrates some of those theatre-makers with a lineup of shows to experience from home. PBS Great Performances: Émigré: A Musical Drama with the NY Phil

Streaming until Friday, November 22 for FREE.

PBS Great Performances presents Émigré, a semi-staged oratorio chronicling the journey of two Jewish brothers who escape the Nazis during World War II and end up in Shanghai. There they take very different paths in life and love. The New York Philharmonic and an international cast perform composer Aaron Zigman's score with lyrics by Grammy-winning librettist Mark Campbell. Recorded live on stage at Lincoln Center’s David Geffen Hall earlier this year.

National Theatre at Home: Macbeth with Ralph Fiennes

Streaming to National Theatre at Home subscribers for free.

In 2020, London's lauded National Theatre launched its own streaming service featuring professional stage captures of its productions. New to the roster is a celebrated mounting of Macbeth starring Ralph Fiennes and Indira Varma as Shakespeare's bloody aspirational couple. Recorded live in London last year, it's directed by Simon Godwin. It's free to watch if you buy a subscription and captions are available.
