In 2020, London's lauded National Theatre launched its own streaming service featuring professional stage captures of its productions. While you can buy a subscription, shows are also available to rent individually. New to the roster is Death of England: The Plays, a trio of acclaimed dramas exploring 21st-century British identity through the experiences of two friends: Michael, who is white and his pal Delroy, who is Black. Each one, Michael, Delroy and Closing Time, is available to rent for $10 and captions are available. Console yourself with a recording of the Chichester Festival's lauded 2014 revival starring British stage legend Imelda Staunton, who won her third Olivier Award for her tour-de-force turn as Mama Rose. The production transferred to London's Savoy Theatre, where this searing mounting of Stephen Sondheim and Jules Styne's musical about getting famous at all costs was filmed.
