A date and a host for the 2022 Tony Awards have been announced! The 75th annual ceremony will take place at NYC's Radio City Music Hall on Sunday, June 12 and newly minted West Side Story Oscar winner and Summer Tony nominee Ariana DeBose will preside over the proceedings! Like last year, it's being split into two parts. From 7 to 8 p.m. ET, Paramount+ will stream exclusive pre-show content followed by the ceremony on CBS from 8 to 11 p.m. ET.
All Broadway productions with opening dates between February 20, 2020 (one day after the cutoff eligibility date for last year's awards) and Wednesday, May 4, 2022 can complete. That means Girl From the North Country, the last show to open in 2020 before the pandemic shutdown, will be a contender, though Ivo van Hove's shuttered West Side Story has been deemed ineligible because so few voters saw the production.
Tony nominations will be announced by Tina Tony winner Adrienne Warren and three-time Tony nominee Joshua Henry on Monday, May 9 at 9 a.m. on the Tony Awards' YouTube channel. It's been a historic season of revival and renewal. We can't wait to celebrate all that Broadway has accomplished!
