Playwright Qui Nguyen and director May Adrales on their longtime collaboration

---

It was not love at first collaboration when playwright Qui Nguyen and director May Adrales initially worked together in 2009. But a few years later, when they started on Vietgone, inspired by Nguyen's parents' love story, they realized opposites can enact some kick-ass theatre. That play's sequel Poor Yella Rednecks, currently at Manhattan Theatre Club, continues the tale of Quang and Tong as they chase the American dream in 1970s Arkansas. Like Vietgone, it's a tantalizing twist on the immigrant's journey genre, full of sex, profanity, puppetry, kung fu and lots of heart. Join us on Friday, October 27 at 1 p.m. ET on our Facebook page or our YouTube channel as we bring Nguyen and Adrales—now great friends!—together for a delightfully unruly conversation about how they make each other better artists, the most hilarious audience reactions to their latest raucous production and the power of representation on stage. Captions will be available.
