Considering how we are grappling with the ethics of AI, it's no wonder there are so many shows about sentient androids right now. While the musical rom-com Maybe Happy Ending and the quirky We Are Your Robots lean into whimsy, Olivia Haller's one-act is a much darker work of speculative fiction. Set in a future when humans have all but been wiped out by robots, Loneliness Was a Pandemic finds an artist being forced to teach an android how to tap into the divine spark of creativity. But can inspiration be learned? Alex Kopnick directs this thought-provoking play.

But when a cheerleader unexpectedly lands the role of Juliet across from Britt's Romeo, sweet sorrow ensues.

Performed in English, Greek and Arabic with English subtitles, this harrowing solo show connects the ancient Greek tragedy to today's seemingly endless bloodshed in the Middle East.

The venerable Czechoslovak-American Marionette Theatre transforms the 12th-century Persian poem The Conference of the Birds into a puppet rock opera. The aesthetic is inspired by Peter Sis' illustrated book adaptation of the ancient epic, about a flock of birds traveling through seven valleys in search of their true king. A puppet show for grown-ups!

New Yiddish Rep produces this world premiere.
