Beyond Broadway: Which Shows Are Suspended, Permanently Closed or Still Running?

By: RAVEN SNOOK
Date: Mar 13, 2020

UPDATE: As of Monday, March 16, all NYC nightclubs, small theatres and concert venues must close. The reopening dates for shows listed below will most likely change. We will continue to update this post as we get more information.

On March 12, due to the quickly evolving COVID-19 crisis, New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo prohibited gatherings of more than 500 people and commanded smaller venues to reduce their occupancy by half. All Broadway shows are suspended through Sunday, April 12, and many Off and Off-Off Broadway productions are taking a hiatus, too. Below is a list detailing which shows are temporarily suspended, which are permanently closed and those that are still running. We will update this post frequently to reflect inevitable changes.

Broadway Shows

All Broadway productions are suspended through April 12. The Inheritance and A Soldier's Story, which were originally scheduled to close on Sunday, March 15, ended their runs early and will not reopen. As of this writing, all other Broadway shows that were already running or about to start previews say they will resume performing the week of April 13.
