In 1998 Wendy Wasserstein and TDF wanted to see if theatre was relevant to young people. We took eight high school students to see six shows in a season and afterward had pizza and talked.

Today that experiment has blossomed into 27 mentorships. Top theatre professionals share their time and expertise with students throughout the five boroughs. Together they see hundreds of shows a year and come together.

By the numbers: 216 students, 27 schools, 27 teachers, 31 mentors, 162 shows

Upon completion of the program, students are given complimentary TDF memberships.

The impact of the Wendy Project is lifelong and profound.

How can my school participate?

Due to the highly selective nature of this program, schools are not able to apply directly to the Wendy Wasserstein Project.

TDF wishes to thank The Pinkerton Foundation for its support of The Wendy Wasserstein Project.
