For years, the public’s number one request for improved service at Theatre Development Fund’s TKTS Discount Booths has been the addition of credit cards as a method of payment. On Monday, May 19, TDF began accepting credit cards as payment at the Lower Manhattan TKTS Discount Booth at South Street Seaport (at the corner of Front and John Streets). All major credit cards will be accepted for payment at TKTS Seaport, in addition to cash and travelers checks*, for same-day discount tickets to Broadway, Off Broadway, music and dance productions.
“We’re happy to be able to improve our service for patrons and productions with this added feature at the TKTS booths,” says TDF’s Executive Director, Victoria Bailey. “For some time now we’ve been attempting to work out the logistics of accepting credit cards at TKTS. It really is much more complicated than it may appear on the surface, but working closely with Telecharge, Ticketmaster and The Broadway League, we’ve been able to develop systems that will serve the many productions we sell 365 days a year, while maintaining the transaction speed necessary to keep the lines moving quickly. We hope that if all goes smoothly at TKTS Seaport, we will be able to offer the credit card option to our patrons when we re-open the main TKTS Discount Booth in Duffy Square later this spring.”
Hours of operation for TKTS Seaport:
Monday - Friday: 11am - 6pm
Saturday: 11am - 7pm
Sunday: 11am - 6pm
** matinee tickets are sold the day before performances at TKTS Seaport
*Credit cards will only be accepted for productions that have their tickets for sale on the Telecharge and Ticketmaster systems. Tickets for all other productions will continue to be available for cash or traveler’s checks.
