Shows with an extended preview period may especially benefit from selling to TDF Members, even making papering the house unnecessary. Sales to TDF Members can also help long-running commercial productions that have not received or are no longer receiving TDF Subsidy assistance.
Broadway, Off Broadway, LORT, ANTC, LOA and mini-contract theatre productions are all welcome to participate, as are dance and music events in houses with at least 199 seats. Showcase productions and smaller venues may also participate, but at a different rate of return. TDF assumes all costs of promotion, distribution and fulfillment, so monies received by the theatre represent net income.
How It Works
TDF pays the production a fixed per-ticket rate for all tickets offered. This price varies according to the nature of the production’s contract with Actors Equity: The range is from $17 for a LOA play to $30 for a musical on Broadway. Dance events receive $18 or $21, depending on the house size. For concerts, TDF's rate is determined by the full price of the ticket and the house size.
TDF pays each box office weekly, and checks are mailed on the Monday following a week of performances. TDF requires at least 10 tickets per performance and asks that requests for sales be sent at least one week prior to the first performance.
How to ParticipateAny producer, general manager or company manager may contact TDF by
email, fax or phone. Press materials and reviews, if available, are needed so that an offering can be prepared for our Web site and mailings. For mail offerings, please contact us at least six weeks before the first available performance.
